Progression: Level 3 and 4 Business Administration Apprenticeships 

Meant for: Business and Administration Apprenticeships are aimed at staff working in administration across all occupations and sectors of employment.

Usual duration: Level 2: 4 - 6 months  Level 3: 9 - 12 months

Delivery: A programme of learning and assessment to compile a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of business administration.

This qualification is very flexible in its structure enabling the organisation and individual to choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.

The apprentice completes NVQ at level 2 or 3, the Certificate in Business Administration, a short course on Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Key Skills Communication and Application of Number and compiles a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of business administration.

Course Outline: An apprenticeship is a framework of work based learning of knowledge and skills to support the development of occupational competence of employees at level 2 or 3. 

The level 2: qalification is intended for individuals whose role involves carrying out a broad range of administrative activities, requiring a limited amount of supervision and working with some autonomy. The individual will be working as part of a team ensuring the provision of information and resources to others. The individual's work situation will provide the opportunity to be involved in a range of administration activities. For example: managing customer relations, managing diary systems, organising business travel and accommodation, organising and supporting meetings, using various software, preparing text from a variety of sources.

The level 3: qualification requires the individual to contribute to the development and implementation of administrative services within the organisation, and have a substantial amount of administrative experience. Their administrative duties will include: supervising an office facility, managing and evaluating customer relations, monitoring information systems, running projects, planning, organising and supporting meetings, making presentations, using various software, planning and implementing innovation and change, providing leadership, preparing text from a variety of sources.

Delivery: Learning for the certificate is normally provided by attendance at a series of small group learning sessions arranged according to the employers requirements.  The NVQ is assessed by assessor observation in the workplace and testimony of the learner's practice, supported by questioning of knowledge to provide evidence of competence.

Accreditation: City & Guilds – 3172- 31

Levels: Level 3

Progression: Level 4


Meant for: This award is suitable for those who are working in a supervisory role caring for children and young people. For example, carers in a residential school.

Usual Duration:
12 months

Delivery:
Small group work, one-to-one tutorials and assessment in the workplace.

Course outline:
- Performance will be covered by 3 workplace observations – holistically across as many units as possible, witness statements and products from the workplace
- Knowledge will be covered by written questions, verbal questioning and/or professional discussion
- Scope by a combination of observation, questioning (written and/or verbal) and witness statements
- Assessment will generally be carried out at the workplace and on a 1:1 basis although it is expected that more than one assessment will take place at any one visit
- Additional 1:1 tutorial support as required
- Basic Skills support as identified

Cost: The full cost is £1250.  However if the learner is eligible for Train to Gain the NVQ may be part or fully funded.  Otherwise there may be funding available from the Workforce development group of the local County Council.

Meant for: Employed people of any age over 16 years who assist with the care, learning and development of babies and children from 0-16years.  Options may be available for volunteers.  Level 3 is for those who have some responsibility, such as being in charge of a room and providing the child care, learning and development for babies or children from 0-16yrs.

Usual duration: Level 2: 9 - 12 months  Level 3: 18 - 24 months

A1 Award

Accredditation: City & Guilds assessors award

Meant for: Occupationally experienced and competent staff to prepare them to assess the competence of staff in their work role.

Usual Duration: 1 day work shop plus one to one tutorials and  professional discussions over a period of about  3 –4 months.

Delivery:  A programme of learning and assessment to compile a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of assessing. 

Course content:
The A1 assessor award will enable an assessor candidate to become a work-based assessor. 
An Introductory study day introduces the award and provides the assessor candidate with the underlying principles to enable them to start the assessment process.

Assessor candidates will then need to complete the following processes with two learners: in the workplace.

Establish and review an assessment plan relevant to the individual learner
Interpret national standards
Collect and judge performance evidence normally by observation in the workplace
Collect and judge knowledge evidence normally  by questioning the learner
Monitor learner’s progress
Make sound assessment decisions and provide feedback to learners
Record the assessment process

The evidence for your award will be generated from the assessment of at least 2 NVQ units by each learner.

  • Meant for: Occupationally experienced and competent staff who are required to monitoring assessors’ decisions and  support them through a variety of activities.

    •Monitoring and supporting the people and organisations who provide administrative support to the assessment process

    •Ensuring an appropriate balance of candidates to assessors monitoring and reporting on the progress, achievement rates and satisfaction of candidates

    Mentoring in the Workplace

    Accreditation: City & Guilds 7318

    Levels: 3

    Progression: Additional units within the Learning and Development (Mini Awards) area i.e. Coaching Learners in the Workplace.

    Meant for:

    1.  Those individuals who want to develop the skill to become a qualified mentor in the workplace.

    2. Those who wish to use their knowledge and experience to support and develop colleagues during induction.  Personal development or NVQ.

    3. Key staff to provide colleagues with the opportunity to improve their practice and career prospects.

    * This course may be especially suitable for shift leaders with NVQ care Level 3.  However all candidates should be non-judgemental, not involved in appraisals i.e. not the line manager.

    Usual duration: 6-9 months

    Delivery: Is within small groups or on an individual basis.  A programme of learning and assessment to complie a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of mentoring in the workplace.

    Course Outline: Observation, evidence from workplace, professional discussion, case studies, assignments and reflective account.

    PTLLS

    Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector

    The new further Education teaching/training regulations require teaching and training staff to be registered on new qualification courses at the start of the teaching year in 2008/2009.

    Several of the routes to the qualified or associate teacher/trainer status QTLS/ATLS include the need to start the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector award (PTLLS). 


    Accreditation:
    City & Guilds 7303/4

    Levels: 3 and 4 available

    Progression: City & Guilds 7304 (level 4), Level 3/4 Certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector (CTLLS) and Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)  

    Meant for

    1. Teachers/Trainers/Tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Adult/ Community Sector

    2. Trainers of personnell in commerce, industry, public and voluntary sector or HM Forces

    3. Technicians and Support Staff in Further and Adult Eduction part time teachers in Further and Adult Education

    Provided they are qualified in the subject they intend to teach (holding an appropriate professional qualification) or are employed in a training/teaching role.  The decision as to appropriateness is at the discretion of Rapido Training. 

    Usual duration: 4-6 months

    Delivery: Is within small groups.  A programme of learning and assessment to complie a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of teaching.

    Course Outline: The course consists of 5 sessions usually run on a f
    ortnightly basis, though this may be negotiable, and one to one tutorials as required.    To attain the PTLLS award, you are expected to complete a portfolio of work that includes some written assignments and some practice document creation, such as a lesson plan and scheme of work, and deliver a micro-teach session to your peers.  

    The PTLLS Award will require some hours of self-study and assignment work in the intervening gap between the course programme sessions.

    Advice & Guidance NVQ

    Accreditation: City & Guilds 3069

    Levels: 3/4

    Progression: Progression into other areas is also possible, such as; community development work, health and social care and youth work, access to Higher Education.  

    Meant for: Employed people over 16 years who provide welfare advice, guidance and advocacy to clients. The qualifications are relevant to those employed within a variety of sectors including, but not exclusive to, the health and social care sectors.              Organisations should already have established structures and processes to offer advice and guidance.   Advice will  be provided as to the appropriateness of Level 3 or 4 depending on the individual’s working situation.

    Usual duration: Approximately 3-6 months

    Delivery
    : The NVQ is supported on a one-to-one basis, assessed by observation in the workplace and testimony of the learner’s practice, supported by questioning of knowledge to provide evidence of competence.  

    Course Outline: A National Vocational Qualification is awarded for competent performance in work-based activities. Competence is proved by completing a range of practical tasks and skills and displaying underpinning technical knowledge.

    This is a flexible qualification is designed to meet the needs of those working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures many of whom have complex social, physical and emotional needs.

    Cost: Level 3: £850 per head, Level 4: £1,350
